Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities:

• Plan, design, program and develop full responsive web sites, landing pages, digital initiatives and interactive experiences that support and advance Clarkson University’s strategic and business goals.
• Work with content producers, designers, and marketing staff to develop best-in- class web sites, landing pages and other digital properties to support key university goals in brand awareness, enrollment and fundraising.
• Responsible for designing and leading the implementation of features and functionality of the universities website (currently within the Drupal backend.)
• Manage go-live procedures for initial full site launch and continued go-live procedures for additional site section launches as the site grows in the future.
• Specify, implement, document and rollout requested features/updates needed to website launch and continued website operations.
• Handle regular updating and maintenance of modules required for sustaining site security, integrity and regular operation and ensure the stability of the hosting environment. (currently Drupal)
• Provide first response backend support for outages, downtime or malfunctions of the infrastructure. (currently Drupal)
• Work within the university’s content management system and other software packages to develop branded templates for a variety of university clients.
• Work with various APIs to integrate new features on web sites, pages and properties.
• Research current and emerging digital technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
• Use web and digital analytics to identify opportunities to improve web experiences for users. Continually optimize existing web sites, pages and digital properties to maximize return on investment.
• Perform work of similar scope as needed to advance University priorities.

Essential Skills:

• Expertise developing responsive web sites and pages using modern web development technologies including Drupal CMS, HTML5, CSS, PHP and JavaScript.
• Front end and backend design and development experience.
• UX/UI design, information architecture and web publishing expertise.
• Site and template development experience within modern content management systems.
• Experience developing web solutions in Drupal and PHP implementations in a LAMP environment.
• Ability to architect enterprise Drupal solutions including data, display, and information architecture.
• Advanced site building experience including deep familiarity with Drupal modules such as CTools, Views and Panels.
• Experience creating custom Drupal modules.
• Experience identifying and staying current in evolution of infrastructure technologies.
• Experience using open APIs to integrate services and features.
• Strong project management, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors’ degree in technical communication, computer science, visual design or related field.

Experience: A minimum of one to three years of experience designing, developing, implementing and managing complex web sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience, and Skills

Education: Masters’ degree in computer science, data analytics, visual design or related field.

Experience: Experience in higher-education marketing and communication or comparable experience within a large decentralized institution. Custom CMS development experience.

Physical Demands
