Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Project Manager will drive the implementation of the strategic plan for Pet Minder, a student led business that is being funded through an outside contract. The Project Manager will facilitate communication between all departments, donors, corporate clients, and current students, ensure compliance with established university policies, procedures and objectives, and provide oversight for events relating to the businesses. The position is highly customer service oriented, self- motivated, and requires great attention to detail.

Position Responsibilities
• Formalize business plan for the project while defining the scope of the project.
• Develops detailed project timelines and keeps all parties on track and informed to meet deadlines – includes establishment of critical path.
• Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at are at the required level of quality.
• Maintains detailed project notes, meeting minutes, and customer inquiries in chronological order to document project history.
• Contracts and manages relationship with outside development firm to ensure that project meets established timetables.
• Develops and maintains detailed project budgets from the earliest conceptual design stages all the way through project closeout.
• Researches competitors and determines customer value proposition.
• Discusses progress and works jointly with funder and Associate Director on weekly basis to help guide project.
• Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to the funder on a regular basis (biweekly).
• Recruit, interview and hire a student project team with appropriate skills to assist in project activities.
• Supervises the student project team and review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for the funder.
• Work on Data Analytic software to ensure that the project is collecting necessary and accurate data.
• Live the Clarkson University values in all daily activities.

Essential Skills:
• Must have at least 2 years of experience working with start-up businesses.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient math and computer skills.
• Excellent written and oral skills, including a superb understand of customer service.
• Proven ability to work with others and move them towards a common goal.
• Proven ability to stay organized and document the lifecycle of startup companies.
• Strong leadership and time management skills.
• Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients, suppliers, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
Include Education,
Experience, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years working on start-up, either that you have started, co-founded or have been employed by.
Previous experience working with data analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:
Include Education,
Experience, and Skills

Supplemental degree or certificate in Project Management or Human Resources Management.
Experience with marketing, pricing model development, and/or data driven customer relationship management.
Working with pets through veterinary clinic.
Business model / plan development.

Physical Demands
