Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Humanities and Social Sciences Department at Clarkson University invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor. This position is an entry-level tenure track appointment in International Relations or Comparative Politics to begin August 2018. The successful candidate must be able to teach introductory level courses as well as courses in her/his area of expertise, which could include a regional focus.
Applicants should bring a lively interest in contributing to the programmatic development of one or more of Clarkson’s intra-school emphases in environmental sustainability and the health sciences, or to the university’s goals of international and global outreach. The ordinary teaching load is three courses (usually two preparations) per semester, including each fall two sections of a first-year, writing-intensive course, focused on a theme of the applicant’s choosing. There is ample opportunity for course development in electives.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Political Science, teaching experience and evidence of scholarly promise.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in political science with emphasis on International Relations or Comparative Politics, and evidence of teaching and scholarly excellence.

Physical Demands
