Job Description Summary

This is a full-time tenure track position in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science. The position is for a full Professor and the successful applicant will hold the endowed Victor K. LaMer Chair.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research accomplishments, preferably in the broadly defined colloids/surface science/nanoscience areas. The occupant of the Victor K. LaMer Chair will assume a leadership role in research activities at Clarkson in his/her discipline and participate in the education of students. He/she is expected to maintain a vigorous, creative, externally funded research program that compliments that of current faculty and builds on departmental strengths. Funding, scholarship, teaching and service should be at a level comparable to current senior faculty in the Department. External funding should be sufficient to support graduate students, postdoctoral students, etc., as needed to support the research effort.
Teaching will be in support of the department’s undergraduate programs in Chemistry and Biomolecular Science as well as the graduate M.S. and Ph.D. programs. It would most likely include one undergraduate course and one advanced (graduate) chemistry course per year. Teaching would also include mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students in the research environment
The candidate is expected to actively participate on Departmental, school and University committees and serve as a mentor for the junior faculty. The candidate is expected to be a leader in his/her professional community, organizing symposia, reviewing manuscripts and research proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in chemistry or related field, a demonstrated record of research excellence in the broadly defined colloids/surface science/materials/nanoscience areas, and is expected to maintain a vigorous, creative, externally funded research program that compliments that of current faculty and builds on departmental strengths.
